A brief history of earrings

Earrings should accentuate your bone structure and not drag your lobes down. Uncomfortable earrings must be written off and chalked up to experience.

In the box set of every woman there is an object from the past. Small jewellery, silver bracelets covered with a dark patina. Sometimes it’s about memories of loved ones, sometimes we do not wear them, we just keep them aside as a memory of those who left them behind. Yet they too have had a life, a life that is still under our eyes. And do you know? The earrings were very fashionable! When it seems, there was no girl who had none. But it was certainly not the privilege of young women, even the ancient women later on wore beautiful earrings.

Symbol of wealth

The earrings were worn since ancient times as a symbol of wealth, but also spread among the tribes of multiple civilizations. In the past they were considered propitiatory talismans or for practical and ornamental purposes. Currently the extreme value of the earring lies in its beauty, as in its tradition.

The jewels, enriched by precious stones and precious materials, have always had an ornamental function and fascinate for their value and the power to enhance every look. However, the beauty of the jewels also lies in their origin and in the tradition that has helped to make them precious. Although the ring seems to be the “jewel in the crown” of jewellery, there is a type of jewelry with ancient origins and a fascinating story.

Bronze Age

The earrings are ornamental jewels used by most civilizations and date back to the Bronze Age. Although currently the earring is more suitable for a female clientele, in Egypt it was not so. It was born mainly as a male ornament consisting of a disc with chains, of great value and ideal to indicate a high social status. Only starting from Hellenism the earrings began to attract a wider and less wealthy public. Finally they became ornaments of use and custom even for populations and nomadic tribes.

Every female figure has her own vices and there is the search for grace and elegance.
