Sunglasses

Sunglasses

Inexpensive mass-production of sunglasses started in 1929 when a Sam Foster introduced them to America. Their charm expresses both how you see others and how you appear to others.

Usefulness and Appeal

Yes, sunglasses are useful, but it is useless to lie. To wear them alone, it is impossible not to always feel a little more somewhat intriguing. That the relationship with sunglasses is now something that goes well beyond mere accessory is known to all. And, certainly not only in the gory use (and abuse) that the stars propose day and night. The world of sunglasses is finally a little clearer, even behind the lens.

It was towards the middle of the eighteenth century that green lenses were used in Venice to fight the reflection of the waters. However it wasn’t around 1920 that the American style began to propose dark lenses outside of military use.

Well, how do you explain their intrinsic appeal?

One could go back to the steps of masked balls where, even if only the gaze is discovered, the fascination of dissimulation is already evident. Similar to that of the true accessory of the court: the fan. It was something to discover and reveal with a single gesture an eye and expression.
