Brassiere

Brassiere

From corset to brassiere

In the beginning was the corset. Born to solve orthopedic problems. Then it became an instrument of torture at the service of the last century’s fashion industry that needed vespas.

Herminie Cadolle

The corselet-gorge arrived in 1889, at the hands of the Parisian buster (or busteress) Herminie Cadolle.

Herminie Cadolle was the French inventor of the modern bra and founder of the Cadolle lingerie house.

History

It was a shorter corset that came just below the breast, leaving life free. However, it was in 1914 that the first modern bra was patented. Herminie Cadolle joined two pieces of cloth and the intimate head most loved by women was born. She could not have known, but on the other side of the ocean there were those who had already thought about it, and a long time ago too!

In an Austrian castle, something similar had been discovered. However, it dated back to 1440.
